The air fryer is one of my favorite pieces of equipment that I have in my kitchen. It makes cooking such a simple and pleasurable task. Recipes that would normally take ages to prepare are done quickly and easily using my air fryer.
A great example is my air fryer cube steak recipe! If you love a well-cooked steak as much as I do, this recipe is perfect for you. Air fryer cube steak is very easy to make and oh-so-delicious!
The air fryer is such a handy little device that cooks my cube steak in a matter of minutes and leaves behind very few dishes to clean up. It’s no wonder it has become a family favorite!
You may come across the name chicken fried steaks when some people are referring to cubed steaks. However, there is no chicken at all in a chicken-fried steak recipe! It is simply a reference to how the cube steak is cooked.

What Kind of Meat Is Cube Steak?
Cube steak is just an ordinary cut of meat that has been tenderized by being flattened and pounded.
Since it usually comes from the tough cuts of beef, such as the shoulder or round, cube steak is quite cheap compared to other cuts.
Before cooking the steak in the air fryer, it is usually cut into small cubes, which is where the name cube steak comes from.
I love the tender steak that comes from this air fryer cube steak recipe and I know you will too. If you must, it is alright to tenderize the steak a little more if you have a meat tenderizer at home.
However, your cube steak should be soft enough already, giving you those perfect melt-in-your-mouth morsels that make this one of my favorite side dishes and go-to air fryer recipes.

How About a Delicious Gravy With Your Country Fried Steak?
Whenever I cook cube steak, I always make a delicious, thick, and savory gravy to go along with it. While this is an optional step, I would advise you to try it out because the cube steak seems so incomplete on its own.
Making the perfect gravy for your cubed steak is quite easy! All you need is some butter, flour, and milk! You can add a bit of salt and pepper to taste if you want.
To make the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan and add the flour. Add your milk, salt, and pepper to the flour mixture and cook over medium heat, whisking until you reach your desired consistency. Pour the gravy over your cubed steaks and enjoy!
Tips for Making Air Fryer Cube Steaks
This air fryer cube steak recipe, like most other air fryer recipes, is quite easy to follow. However, here are a few tips to make air fryer cube steaks come out perfect every time:
- Buy your cube steak already tenderized from your local grocery store
- Do not put too many cube steak pieces into the air fryer basket because overcrowding will affect the cooking process
- If you are using racks, be sure to switch the racks halfway through the cooking so that your top rack cooks the same as your bottom one
- To make cleaning up easier, use parchment rounds with holes in them that allow air to still circulate
- After seasoning your cube steak with salt and pepper, allow it to sit for about 5 minutes so that the flavor is absorbed before you dip it into the flour and egg mixtures
What To Serve With Your Country Fried Steak
This air fryer cube steak goes well with several sides, such as:
- Air fryer mashed potatoes
- Air fryer green beans
- A simple vegetable salad
- Creamy polenta or cheesy grits
- Peppery white gravy
Storage of Your Cube Steaks
You can store your leftover chicken fried steak cubes in the fridge for up to four days. When you are ready to eat, simply reheat in a 370-degree F oven and enjoy!

Time To Put That Air Fryer Basket to Work!
Air frying is one of my favorite ways to cook things like steak. You should try it out too using this simple recipe! The bonus is that you can cook your sides and your steak at the same time on different racks in the air fryer. Have fun and let me know how it goes!
