Why I Love Air-Fried Mushrooms

Air fryer mushrooms are bursting with flavor. I always want to eat the whole batch myself! They’re so addictive!

I think what I love most about air-fried mushrooms is their texture. They’re juicy but not watery at all, which is a common problem when we cook them.

Also, they have a crispy texture that makes my taste buds tingle, but they aren’t fried. Therefore, these mushrooms are low in fat and calories. That’s just amazing.

If you want to eat healthy foods or are on a diet to lose weight, these air-fried mushrooms can be part of any of your meals or become your favorite snack.

Finally, depending on the ingredients and seasonings we use, they’re so flavorful. I always add garlic and onion powder to give these mushrooms a heavenly flavor!

Tips to Make The Best Air Fryer Mushrooms

This recipe is so easy to make. You only need a few minutes to make these delicious and juicy mushrooms in the air fryer.

However, I’ll share some tips to help you get the best results. Find them below!

  • Cook mushrooms for 10 minutes, shake, and stir them. Then, cook again for 5 minutes until the mushrooms’ edges are crisp.
  • If you use a smaller air fryer, cook your mushrooms in batches.
  • Always keep a close eye on the mushrooms to avoid burning. Every air fryer is different, so cooking times may vary depending on your appliances.
  • Shake your basked halfway to make sure mushrooms are cooked evenly and browned on all sides.

Common Ingredient Substitutions

Want to try this air fryer mushroom recipe but don’t have some of the ingredients listed above? Don’t worry! You can use some substitutions. These are my favorites:

Mushrooms

Although I use Baby Bella mushrooms, white button mushrooms are also great for this recipe. Actually, you can use any variety you like.

Cremini and portobello mushrooms are also great for making these appetizers in the air fryer. However, since they’re bigger, you may need to add an extra minute or two to the cooking time.

Olive Oil

We add olive oil to give our mushrooms more moisture and help them cook through. However, we can use any other type of vegetable oil.

If you have cooking oil, you can also use that. It’s a great way to distribute the oil evenly over the mushrooms for better results.

Seasonings

As mentioned, I use onion or garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce to flavor my mushrooms. However, you can use any seasoning you like.

Parmesan cheese is just great for this recipe. It complements our air fryer mushrooms’ flavor perfectly and gives this recipe an amazing touch.

You can also use soy sauce to give mushrooms a savory flavor. It also makes them more tender.

Adding fresh herbs also gives these air fryer mushrooms a lot more flavor. Fresh thyme is one of my favorite options! It also goes perfectly with Parmesan cheese if we use it.

Why Should I Shake the Air Fryer Basket When I Cook Mushrooms?

If we want our mushrooms to be cooked to perfection and crispy, we have to shake the air fryer basket halftime.

Shaking the air fryer basket after a few minutes to cook evenly is key if we want to get the best results, whether we’re making mushrooms or other vegetables.

Also, this trick is ideal if you want your mushrooms to be crispy!

Storing Leftover Mushrooms

Did you make air fryer mushrooms but didn’t eat the whole batch? You can save those leftovers!

Just store them in an airtight container for up to a week to use them in other recipes, including pasta or salads!
