How Often Should You Drink Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Juice Detox Drink?

You can drink this daily if you want to but one a day is plenty. Too much acid is bad for the system- undoing any of the good it did, to begin with.

If you are drinking it every day, try to limit how much vinegar you use in your food. A little bit here and there is fine, but avoid having it in the majority of your meals.

It is okay to drink on an empty stomach or after a meal. If your purpose for drinking it is to aid weight loss, it is a good idea to drink it during the day to stave off hunger between lunch and dinner.

The Best Detox Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Juice Recipe

This recipe makes enough for four glasses of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar drink.

You can keep it in a jug in the refrigerator for a few days, but keep it covered, and remember to stir well before drinking in case the ingredients separate in the jug.

There is very little preparation involved- really all you need to do is measure out your ingredients. All-in-all, it takes about five minutes to get the drink ready.

The ingredients are simple. I only use four things, although there are a few alternatives and extras you can use if you want to.

Simple is better, in my opinion, because it lets the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar do their thing and shine through.

Please note- this is not medical advice- it is just a homemade detox drink recipe believed to have positive effects on the immune system, skin health, and appetite control.

If you are looking for doctor-sanctioned weight loss advice, it is best to speak to a professional.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Juice

Drinking apple cider vinegar and lemon juice may not sound all that appealing, but it has quickly become my favorite detox combination.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. honey (raw honey is best)
  • 3/4 c. water
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • lemon slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Get your glass ready. I like to use a mason jar-style cup with a screw-on lid with space for a straw so I can drink it on the go.
  2. Measure out a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and add it to the glass.
  3. Next, add the lemon juice. I use fresh lemons to squeeze a teaspoon's worth of juice. If you are doing the same, measure it out before pouring it into the glass to ensure you get the right balance.
  4. Add in a tablespoon of honey and stir well. Make sure all the honey disperses through the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar mixture.
  5. If you want your lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to drink cold, throw in a few ice cubes at this point.
  6. Pour water into the top of the glass and mix everything together. If you want to make the glass look nice and add an extra citrus kick, put in a couple of fresh or frozen lemon slices.

Notes

  • If you are not a fan of honey, you can sweeten the drink using sugar or a sweetener. Maple syrup is also a great choice- but it does increase the calorie count a little.
  • I use warm water to make sure the ingredients mix well and any lingering honey bits dissolve nicely. It cools quickly- especially if you have some ice cubes in the glass already.
