Just looking at this drink sitting in a shot glass makes it obvious why they call it a mini beer shot. It looks just like beer!
From the rich golden color to the frothy layer of top, you will have to take a sip before someone convinces you that this is not beer.
However, once you do take a sip, you will not be able to keep from having one or two of these mini beer shots once in a while.
The great thing about the mini beer shots recipe is that you only need two ingredients! That’s right! With just two ingredients you can fill up a few mini beer glasses and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with some of your best friends.

What Is a Mini Beer Shot?
Sharing a mini beer shot with your friends is a great way to celebrate, especially if you drink them out of specially designed mini beer glasses.
However, what exactly is a mini beer shot? I can best describe it as a cocktail made with one alcoholic ingredient and some cream.
The mini beer shot recipe is easy to make, which is great if you are not in the mood for long and complicated cocktail recipes.
What I like most about mini beer shots, besides the great taste, is the excitement they cause when my guests spot these small shots. Making a few mini beer shots is always the best way to start a great party.
What are Mini Beer Shots Made With?
This mini beer shot recipe is made with Licor 43 and heavy cream. While different variations are possible, these two ingredients are the ones most commonly used because they are such a great combination.
With a full bottle of Licor 43 and lots of heavy cream, you can fill up a large number of mini beer shot glasses that will have you partying deep into the night.
However, Licor 43 is an alcoholic drink, so drink responsibly! Mini beer shots are not as potent as some drinks, such as Vodka, but they do pack a punch nonetheless.
If you want to try something a little more fun, and a lot less potent, the scooby snack shot might be more your speed.

More about Licor 43
When viewed in a shot glass, the golden brown color makes Licor 43 look just like real beer. It’s a great way to enjoy your cocktails while everyone around you thinks that you are drinking a beer.
Produced in Cartagena, Spain, Licor 43 Liqueur is a Spanish vanilla liqueur that is famous for its sweet taste.
Licor 43 is made from a family recipe that has been kept secret for an astonishing 76 years. That is how much this liqueur is valued by those who make it!
However, some of the 43 ingredients that it’s made of (and that give Licor 43 its name) are well known, such as the Mediterranean citrus fruits. It’s the majority of spices, herbs, and botanicals inside Licor 43 that set it apart.
All of the Licor 43 ingredients that are used are natural and locally found. Licor 43 liqueur has a sweet, floral, citrus flavor that is smooth to drink with a few complex undertones.
Licor 43 is the main source of the sweet and fruity flavor produced by this mini beer shot recipe. While you can play around with the heavy cream and various alternatives, a mini beer shot is not a real mini beer shot without the Licor 43.

Heavy Cream Alternatives
Heavy cream is essential for the frothy layered shot to look the way it does but unlike Licor 43, you can afford to try out a few alternatives.
It will alter the taste a bit but if you do not mind that you can try one or two options, such as Baileys Irish cream.
This heavy cream alternative traditionally works well with a Licor 43 product called Licor 43 Horchata. This means Baileys Irish cream should work with the original Licor 43 as well.
Equipment
Mini beer shots have no complicated stages that you need to navigate, so as you can imagine, you do not need an extensive list of equipment.
All you will need are the following items:
- Shot glass (if you do not have mini beer glasses)
- Cocktail pourer (you can try an angled jigger to make it easier to pour)
- Cocktail bar spoon
Mini Beer Shot Recipe Tips
If you want to routinely be able to make mini beer shots, remember the following tips:
- Licor 43 is best used very coldly, so you need to chill the bottle in the freezer for a couple of hours or keep it in the freezer overnight.
- You do not need a mixing glass or cocktail shaker for this mini beer shot recipe because you are making a layered shot, where the heavy cream sits on top of the Licor 43.
- The best place to find Licor 43 is in any liquor store.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Licor 43 Keto-friendly?
With only 11% calories for each serving, Licor 43 is very Keto-friendly. The regular Keto diet requires you to have less than 0.82 ounces of carbohydrates, this makes the drink acceptable, although you will have to watch what you pair it with to avoid going over the limit.
Is Heavy Cream the Same as Whipping Cream?
In many ways the two are quite similar except for one important distinction; heavy cream has more milk fat at 36% compared to around 30% for whipping cream. This has two benefits when making a mini beer shot:
- Heavy cream holds its shape better to create an even-layered shot
- The higher percentage of milk fats means heavy cream is more likely to float on top of the Licor 43 than whipping cream
How Much Is a Mini Beer Shot?
Like all other spirits, shots, and cocktails, the cost of a mini beer shot will depend on the bar where you buy it from. However, if you make the drink at home, it will cost you about $1 per shot.

What Does a Mini Beer Shot Taste Like?
The two most prominent flavors in a mini beer shot are the citrus and vanilla liqueur flavors from the Licor 43. However, you will also taste the creamy after-taste from the heavy cream after every sip.
What Is the Alcohol Content of a Mini Beer Shot?
The alcohol content varies from one shot to the next depending on how much heavy cream you have used in your mini beer shot recipe and whether you have used any cream substitutes.
In general, if you follow this mini beer shot recipe and use a jigger to accurately add the Licor 43, you will have about 23.25% ABV per mini beer shot. It is significantly a lot more than a normal beer at 5% ABV but much less than vodkas.
Three-Step Mini Beer Shot

This is one of my favorite shots to make when having friends over. The great thing about my mini beer shots recipe is you only need 2 ingredients!
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz chilled Licor 43
- 0.5 oz heavy cream (or alternative)
Instructions
- Add the Licor 43 into the mini beer shot glass. If you want to make the drink the same each time, use a jigger to measure out the right amount of Licor 43.
- Pour heavy cream slowly over the back of a spoon straight into the shot glass, making sure it is layered on top of the Licor 43, rather than allowing it to sink to the bottom.
- Your mini beer shot is now ready for you to enjoy!
