Red-Headed Slut Shot

Here is a classic Red Headed slut shot recipe for an easy shooter or cocktail- and a second variation for anyone looking for a powerful and fiery drink.

Sharing is caring!

Red-headed slut shot

Don’t be fooled by the somewhat out-there name- this fuzzy Jager cranberry shooter is sweet, tangy, and delicious.

It can be taken as a shooter or a cocktail- and is one of the more easy-drinking mixtures out there.

I love this shot because it tastes like drinking candy- alcoholic candy- but with a tangy twist. It uses three of my favorite ingredients and only takes a minute or two to make- what’s not to love?

A Bit About the Red-Headed Slut Shot

Redheaded Slut shots have been around in bars for more than 20 years- and are particularly popular in the USA. It apparently originated in an Ohio pup called O’Grady’s back in 2000- and has been a staple shot favorite across the country ever since.

Like any new cocktail with a suggestive or sexual name, it quickly became a hit with college-aged adults and fun-loving partygoers. Similar to the blow job shot, they may have started ordering it just so they could say its name, but they kept coming back for the surprisingly delicious flavor.

The Red Headed Slut shot is affectionately known by a few names- including Lindsay Lohan- or the Ginger Bitch if you are in the UK. Whatever you call it, it is fun to order- and super tasty to drink.

Using just three ingredients, the Red Headed Slut shot combines two of cocktail-making’s favorite alcohols- topped up with a healthy and refreshing fruit drink.

There are some variations- one of which I have added below the main recipe- but the classic mixture calls for Jagermeister, Peach Schnapps, and cranberry juice.

The strong herbal flavor of the much-loved German proof digestif, Jagermeister, is a fan favorite in shot recipes around the world- and it also happens to be a lifesaver if you are heading for a night out after a big dinner (say goodbye to the food coma!).

It provides a great flavor balance against the much sweeter tastes of the other ingredients.

Peach Schnapps is a syrupy sweet liqueur famous around the world for adding a fruity punch to many cocktails- and it is no different here. Cranberry juice is the perfect topper and can be deceptive in how non-alcoholic it makes things taste.

Fancy Your Red-Headed Slut Shot with a Bit More Fire?

There is an alternative recipe for redheaded slut shots that packs a lot more punch. Just like our snake bite shot recipe, be warned- this crimson shot has the same fiery hot spirit as a true redhead and is not for drinking on a school night!

It is more of a redheaded slut drink than a redheaded slut shot, but you can reduce the measures and put it in a shot glass if you want to. Personally, I like it served over ice in a lowball glass or tumbler.

Ingredients

0.7 OZ (20 ml) Cranberry Flavored Vodka

0.7 OZ (20 ml) Crown Royal

0.7 OZ (20 ml) Jagermeister

0.7 OZ (20 ml) Southern Comfort

What Else You Need

  • A stirrer
  • The glass of your choice
  • Ice cubes

The Method

Step One: Fill a Lowball Glass with Ice

I recommend being pretty generous with your ice if making this recipe. As you can see from the ingredients list, this is pure alcohol- so some of that melted ice is going to be your friend- trust me!

Add your ice to the glass and swirl around before adding any liquids.

Step Two: Add All the Ingredients to the Glass

Pour in all the ingredients- making sure they are equal measures. You can really put as much or as little as you want, as long as the measurements are the same.

Step Three: Stir the Drink and Serve

Mix the ingredients well before drinking to combine the flavors and make sure it is nice and cold- this is not a drink that tastes good if it is not chilled.

As always, remember to drink responsibly- this read-headed slut can kick!

Side Notes

Whatever red-headed slut shot recipe you choose to try, here are a few notes to make sure your red-headed slut is the belle of the ball.

  • You don’t need to have a cocktail shaker. If you don’t have one, you can pour the peach schnapps and Jagermeister into the shot glass directly before adding the cranberry juice.
  • If you love the red-headed slut shot so much that you want to savor the flavor a little more, increase the measures (keeping the peach schnapps and Jagermeister as equal measurements) and fill the glass with cranberry juice. It is also nice with a dash of lemonade or soda water if you are drinking it as a cocktail.
  • Use a strawberry to garnish the glass if you want to impress party guests.

Summary

Drink it as a shooter, a cocktail, or simply over ice- the Redheaded Slut is always welcome at a party! Make it in minutes and adjust the measurements to suit your glass size- it really is that easy.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz peach schnapps
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) Jagermeister
  • 3/4 oz cranberry juice (or enough to fill your shot glass)

Instructions

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Then, add the peach schnapps and Jagermeister to the shaker. Shake thoroughly to chill and mix the contents.
  2. Carefully pour into the shot glass leaving about a third of an inch from the top empty.
  3. Add cranberry juice to the rim of the glass. Depending on the size of your shot glass, you may need to adjust the measurements slightly.

Notes

  • I usually use a larger shooter glass that can hold around two ounces (50 ML).
  • You can mix the cranberry juice through if you want to, but you don't need to. Traditionally, it is intended to be left on top hence the name Red-Headed Slut.
