How Long Does It Take to Make the Coconut Shrimp Dipping Sauce?
Red Lobster’s famous pina colada dipping sauce is a secret recipe that has been around for years.
There are many copycat Red Lobster recipes on the internet, but none has been able to replicate the original flavor of the Red Lobster pina colada sauce. However, my recipe comes close to the authentic version while also being much quicker to make!
The luscious combination of crushed pineapple and coconut flake flavors in the dipping sauce makes it a popular condiment for seafood dishes, chicken nuggets, and even fruit salad.
With just a few simple ingredients, my delicious pina colada dipping sauce recipe can be used to upgrade any seafood dinner.
This sweet dipping sauce can be paired perfectly with grilled shrimp, pan-seared salmon, or even fish tacos. Plus, the sauce is easy to make, and you can also store it in the refrigerator for up to one week.
What to Use as a Substitute for the Pina Colada Mix
Although I highly recommend sticking to the original recipe and using a good branded pina colada mix (unless it’s homemade), you can also use vodka as a substitute for the pina colada mix.
However, it’s important to sweeten the vodka to resemble pina colada, or else, your dipping sauce will taste bitter.
Add a splash of honey, powdered sugar, sweetener, or syrup to cancel the harshness of vodka. You can also pour some extra pineapple juice to make the vodka mix taste more like a pina colada mix.

What Can You Eat with Coconut Shrimp Sauce?
Shrimp sauce is a popular condiment used in many different types of dishes. It is often used as a marinade, dipping sauce, or topping for boiled shrimp items.
Some people also prefer pairing the sauce with coconut shrimp and having it with rice, french fries, long green beans, buttered mushrooms, coleslaw, etc. Honestly, you can pair this amazing dipping sauce with anything you want, as long as it tastes good to you!
How Large Should the Shrimp Be for Coconut Shrimp Recipes?
Coconut shrimp recipes vary, but the shrimp should be large enough to be easily covered with the desired coating. Generally, the shrimp should measure no less than 6 cm (2.5 inches) when peeled and deveined.
It is important to use quality shrimp, as the recipe will only be as good as the ingredients used. Generally, larger shrimp are less likely to be overcooked, as it is difficult to keep them from cooking quickly once they are added to hot oil.
The number of shrimps needed to pair with a Red Lobster pina colada sauce can vary greatly depending on the number of servings desired too. A single serving could contain anywhere from 4-6 large shrimps, while a large batch would require at least 12-15.

How You Can Store the Red Lobster Pina Colada Sauce for Coconut Shrimp
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to finish your coconut shrimp Red Lobster pina colada sauce in a day. It won’t go bad even if you store it in the refrigerator for more than four days!
Keep it in an airtight container to retain the flavors of the coconut shrimp dip. However, I recommend keeping the sauce out of a freezer, as the pineapple juice, sour cream, or plain yogurt can release moisture and ruin the Red Lobster coconut shrimp sauce.
Why Is the Red Lobster Pina Colada Dip the Best for Fried Coconut Shrimp?
This Red Lobster pina colada dip is a fan favorite for its creamy texture and rich flavor. It is the perfect complement to fried coconut shrimp, as the sauce highlights the sweetness of the shrimp without overpowering it.
On top of that, the sauce’s creamy texture also helps coat the seafood evenly and provides a tantalizing and mouthwatering taste.
